Prepare Longitudinal Member Outer Shell On Rocker Panel For Installation - Ar63.30-P-1102-02CLW
Model 205.3
The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Mark separating point on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut (area A).
Transfer separation point from vehicle.
- Expose spot welds on reinforcement (2) expose and cut out (areas B).
- Heat reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove reinforcement (2).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (3) and cut out (areas C and D).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas D).
- Heat B-pillar reinforcement (3) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove longitudinal member outer shell from replacement part.
- Remove foam parts (4) from longitudinal member outer shell (1) and remove adhesive residues.
- Grind mating surfaces on longitudinal member outer shell (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas E).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces on reinforcement (2) down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust (areas F).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
Reinforcement (2), inside
