The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205.0 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (area A and B).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on B-pillar paneling (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area C).
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Model 205.0/1/2
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area C).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Model 253
Model 293
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area L).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating points on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (area G and H).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut off (area I and J).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (area J).
- Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove section from B-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Grind mating surfaces on B-pillar reinforcement (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not apply zinc dust paint to bonding surfaces (area K).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
The following operation steps are required, if the B-pillar paneling is not sufficient for the cover is not sufficient.
- Mark separating points on longitudinal member paneling (3) and cut (area D and E).
- Grind mating surfaces on longitudinal member paneling (3) down to bare in the crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area F).
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Model 205.0/1/2
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area F).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Model 205.0/1/2
