Partially Remove Side Longitudinal Member Paneling - Ar63.30-P-1040-01LF

Model 222 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on MODEL 222 except CODE Z07a (Top protection) and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage. In principle replacement parts required for this repair can be replaced completely. Observe standard series production joining and bonded connections.

  1. Mark and cut separating points on side longitudinal member paneling (1) (areas A, B and C).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Separating points are freely selectable according to damage in consideration of foam parts and structural foam parts (areas A and B).

    Transfer separation point from replacement part (area C).

    IMPORTANT Dimensions:

    a = approx. 135 mm

    b = approx. 160 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on side longitudinal member paneling (1) and cut out (areas D).

    1. 3.1 Model 222

      Heat side longitudinal member paneling (1) in crosshatched areas down to bare metal (areas H).

      IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

    2. 3.2 Model 205.0/1/2

      Heat side longitudinal member paneling (1) in crosshatched areas down to bare metal (areas I).

      IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  3. Remove side longitudinal member panel (1).

  4. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Model 222

    with code Z07 (Top protection)

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

    IMPORTANT Model 205.0/1/2

    except code Z07 (Top protection)

    Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  5. Model 222

    Smooth bonding surface on structural foam part with fine-grit abrasive paper (area F).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  6. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  7. Model 205.0/1/2

    Model 222

    Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Model 222

    except code Z07 (Top protection)

    Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas E).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    NOTES Model 205.0/1/2

    Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area G).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
