Partially Remove Side Longitudinal Member Paneling - Ar63.30-P-1040-01CLW

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

1. Mark separating points on longitudinal member paneling (1) and cut (according to damage, areas A and B, A and C or B and C).

   Do not make the cuts too deep.

   Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

   Dimensions:

   a = approx. 65 mm

   Transfer separation point from replacement part (area B).

   The separation point is freely selectable according to the damage (area C).

2. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member paneling (1) and cut out (areas D).
3. Heat longitudinal member paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas.

   Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

4. Remove longitudinal member paneling (1).

5. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

   Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

6. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
7. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

   Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area E).

   Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
