MAIN FLOOR PANEL PARTIAL REMOVAL MODIFICATION NOTES

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205.0. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose spot welds on connecting carrier (2) (areas A and B).
  2. Cut out spot welds on connecting carrier (2) (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two sheet metal thicknesses (area B).

  3. Expose spot welds on connecting carrier (2) (area C).
  4. Drill through spot welds on connecting carrier (2) with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area C).
  5. Model 205.0/2/3/4, 253, 293 with code 494 (US version) Expose inert gas welds on connecting carrier (2) (area Q).
  6. Model 205.0/2/3/4, 253, 293 with code 494 (US version) Cut inert gas welds on connecting carrier (2) (area Q).
  7. Model 205.0/2/3/4, 253, 293 with code 494 (US version) Expose spot welds on connecting carrier (2) (areas R and S).
  8. Model 205.0/2/3/4, 253, 293 with code 494 (US version) Cut out spot welds on connecting carrier (2) (areas R and S).

    IMPORTANT Cut out weld spots through two sheet metal thicknesses (area S).

  9. Expose spot welds on lower longitudinal member (6) (areas P).
  10. Drill through spot welds on lower longitudinal member (6) with Ø 6.5 mm bit (areas P).
  11. Heat connecting carrier (2) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  12. Remove connecting carrier (2).

    Expose spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3) and on rear front seat crossmember (4) (areas T).

    Cut out spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3) and on rear front seat crossmember (4) (areas T).

  15. Model 205.4

    Expose inert gas welds on reinforcement (7) (areas Z2 ).

    Cut inert gas welds on reinforcement (7) (areas Z2 ).

  17. Model 205.4

    Remove reinforcement (7).

    Expose inert gas weld on rear front seat crossmember (4) (area D).

    Cut inert gas weld on rear front seat crossmember (4) (area D).

  20. Expose spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3), on rear front seat crossmember (4) and on reinforcement (5) (areas E1 E1 F1 ).

    IMPORTANT Model 253, 293

    Cut out spot welds from below (areas E1 and F1 ).

  21. Expose spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3), on rear front seat crossmember (4) and on reinforcement (5) (areas G and G1 ).
  22. Drill through spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3), on rear front seat crossmember (4) and on reinforcement (5) with 0 6.5 mm bit (areas G and G1 ).
  23. Cut out spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3), on rear front seat crossmember (4) and on reinforcement (5) (areas E, E1 F1 ).

  24. Expose spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3), on rear front seat crossmember (4) and on reinforcement (5) (areas H and I).
  25. Cut out spot welds on front front seat crossmember (3), on rear front seat crossmember (4) and reinforcement (5) (areas H and I).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas I).

  26. Model 205

    Expose spot welds on reinforcement (5) (area H1 ).

  27. Model 205

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds on reinforcement (5) (area H1 ).

  28. Model 253, 293

    Heat reinforcement (5) in area of rear-end floor.

    IMPORTANT The connecting flange to the rear-end floor is bonded.

  29. Remove front front seat crossmember (3) and rear front seat crossmember (4).
  30. Model 205

    Remove reinforcement (5).

  31. Expose spot welds on main floor (1) (areas J1 and J3 ).
  32. Cut out spot welds on main floor (1) (areas J1 and J3 ).
  33. Expose spot welds on main floor (1) (area J2 ).
  34. Drill through spot welds on main floor (1) with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area J2 ).

  35. Expose spot welds on lower longitudinal member (6) (areas K).
  36. Cut out spot welds on lower longitudinal member (6) (areas K).
  37. Heat bottom longitudinal member (6) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  38. Remove bottom longitudinal member (6).

  39. Mark separating point on main floor (1) (area L).

    IMPORTANT Observe dimensions (I1 , I2 ).

  40. Cut separating point on main floor (1) (area L).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  41. Heat main floor panel (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  42. Model 253, 293

    Heat main floor panel (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  43. Remove main floor (1).

  44. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  45. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (area Mi).

  46. Model 205.4

    Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

  48. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
