The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way in the event of damage on the right side of the vehicle.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating point on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut (areas A and B).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar paneling (5) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges. onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.
- Mark separating point on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (area E).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) from inside and cut out (area D).
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar reinforcement (6) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges. onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas F).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating points on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (areas G and H).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut out (areas J).
- Remove A-pillar inner panel (7) from replacement part.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar inner panel (7) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges. onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas K).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
