The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating point on roof frame paneling (6) and separate (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a1 = approx. 25 mm
a2 = approx. 10 mm
a3 = approx. 100 mm
- Mark separating point on B-pillar (2) and separate (area B).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
b approx. 40 mm
- Expose spot welds on roof frame paneling (6) and cut off (areas L).
- Remove roof frame paneling (6).
- Expose spot welds on mounting support (4) and cut off (area C).
Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
- Remove mounting support (4).
- Mark separating points on inner roof frame (3) and separate (areas D, E).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
d = approx. 150 mm
e = approx. 210 mm
- Expose spot welds on inner roof frame (3) and cut off (areas F, G).
Common spot welds on sheet metal panels located one behind the other must be cut off through two panel thicknesses (area F).
- Separate inert gas weld at inner roof frame (3) (area H).
- Heat inner roof frame (3) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove inner roof frame (3).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar (2) and cut off (areas I, J).
Common spot welds on panels located one behind the other must be cut off through two panel thicknesses (areas I).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar (2) and drill with a Ø 6.5 mm bit (area K).
- Separate inert gas welds on B-pillar (2) (area M).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar (2) and cut off (areas N, O).
Common spot welds on panels located one behind the other must be cut off through two panel thicknesses (areas O).
- Heat B-pillar (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat B-pillar (2) in crosshatched areas.

- Remove B-pillar (2).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove damaged foam part (5) and remove adhesive residues.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas P).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas Q).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
