Cut Off A-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1100-01LW

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed on the right side in the same way in the event of damage.
- Mark separating points on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut (areas A and B).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 100 mm
b = approx. 238 mm
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut out (areas C and D).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas D).
- Heat A-pillar paneling (5) in cross-hatched areas (Areas T and U).
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove A-pillar paneling (5).
- Mark separating points on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (areas E and F).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
e = approx. 120 mm
f = approx. 253 mm
- Expose insert gas weld at A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (area G).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut out (areas H, I and J).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas I).
Cut out spot welds through three panel thicknesses (area J).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area K).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut out (areas L).
- Heat A-pillar reinforcement (6) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove A-pillar reinforcement (6).
- Mark separating points on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (areas M and N).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
m = approx. 40 mm
n = approx. 90 mm
- Expose insert gas weld at A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (area O).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut out (areas P and Q).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas Q).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area R).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar side wall.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas S).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
