Substitute Lights And Emergency Lights Actuation, Function - GF82.10-P-3080RF
Model 205, 253
Function requirements, general
- Terminal 15 ON
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the status of circuit 15 via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit (N10/6) and the rear SAM control unit (N10/8).
Substitute lamp actuation/emergency light actuation, general
The substitute lamp actuation/emergency light actuation ensures operation of the minimum exterior lighting in the event of failure of individual system components for the vehicle's exterior lights.
The substitute lamp actuation/emergency light actuation is comprised of the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for substitute lights control (except code 460 (Canada version) and except code 494 (USA version))
- Function sequence for emergency light actuation
Function sequence for substitute lights control (except code 460 (Canada version) and except code 494 (USA version))
The rear SAM control unit continuously monitors the function of the vehicle's rear lighting.
In the case of failure of the left rear turn signal light (E3e1) in the left rear lamp unit (E3), the rear SAM control unit actuates the left brake light (E3e4) (except model 205.0/1 as of 01.06.2018) or the upper left brake light (E3e23) (model 205.0/1 as of 01.06.2018) so that it flashes.
In the case of failure of the right rear turn signal light (E4e1) in the right rear lamp unit (E4), the rear SAM control unit actuates the right brake light (E4e4) (except model 205.0/1 as of 01.06.2018) or the upper left brake light (E3e23) (model 205.0/1 as of 01.06.2018) so that it flashes. A failure of the rear turn signal light is shown on the instrument cluster (A1). To this end, the rear SAM control unit sends corresponding information via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster.
Function sequence for emergency light actuation
For a fault in the interior CAN or the peripherals CAN (CAN PER) (with code 631 (Left-hand drive static LED headlamp) or code 632 (Right-hand drive static LED headlamp) or code 640 (High Performance LED) or code 641 (Left-hand drive dynamic LED headlamp) or code 642 (Right-hand drive dynamic LED headlamp)), the front SAM control unit and the rear SAM control unit actuate an emergency lighting software. The rear SAM control unit actuates the taillights and the brake lights (depending on the status of circuit 54). The front SAM control unit activates the standing lights and low beams.
If the rain/light sensor with additional functions (B38/2) fails or communication with the rain/light sensor with additional functions fails, the front SAM control unit activates the auto on/off driving lights.
Vehicles with code 631 (left-hand drive static LED headlamp) or code 632 (right-hand drive static LED headlamp) except model 253 as of 01 06 2019
The following control units receive their power from the front SAM control unit via the circuit 30L:
- Left headlamp control unit (E1n9)
- Right headlamp control unit (E2n9)
Vehicles with code 640 (High Performance I ED) or code 641 (I eft-hand drive static LED headlamp) or code 642 (Right-hand drive static LED headlamp) except model 253 as of 01.06.2019
The following control units receive their power from the front SAM control unit via the circuit 30L:
- Left headlamp control unit
- Left front LED matrix lamp unit control unit (E1n11) (model 205 as of 01.06.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019)
- Left front LED exterior lighting actuation module (E1n7) (model 205 up to 31.05.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) up to 31.05.2019)
- Right headlamp control unit
- Left front LED matrix lamp unit control unit (E2n11) (model 205 as of 01.06.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019)
- Right front LED exterior lighting actuation module (E2n7) (model 205 up to 31.05.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) up to 31.05.2019)
The power supply for the left and right side is realized via a cross connection.
If the front SAM control unit is defective, a circuit 30L is missing or a driver has failed, then the low beams are actuated at one side of the vehicle, for example, and the standing lights are actuated at the other side.
