The headlamp control units have the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Controlling functions
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line (headlamp-internal)
- LIN (headlamp-internal) (with CODE 640 (High-performance LED) or CODE 641 (Dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp) or CODE 642 (Dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp))
- Peripherals CAN
Direct line (headlamp-internal)
The left headlamp control unit reads in the signals of the following components via direct lines:
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7) (Headlamp range adjustment, vehicle with LED headlamps)

LIN (headlamp-internal) (with CODE 640 (High-performance LED) or CODE 641 (Dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp) or CODE 642 (Dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp))
The left headlamp control unit reads in the diagnostic data from the left front actuation module, LED exterior lighting (E1n7) via the left headlamp LIN (LIN G1).
The right headlamp control unit reads in the diagnostic data from the right front actuation module, LED exterior lighting (E2n7) via the right headlamp LIN (LIN G2).
Peripherals CAN
The signals are read in by the headlamp control units via the periphery CAN.
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
