Remove/Install Heat Shield For Firewall - AR49.10-P-0001MFC

WARNING Risk of injury  . Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove lower Engine compartment lining. Model 118, 177, 247 with Engine 260 with code M016 (Uprated Engine) AR61.20-P-1105MFR
    Model 118, 177, 247 with Engine 260 except code M016 (Uprated Engine) AR61.20-P-1105MFA
2 Release underfloor paneling on left and right in front area until nuts (7) can be accessed.   AR61.30-P-1001MFA
3 Remove nuts (7) and loosen heat shield (1).    
4 Remove nuts (9) and remove heat shield (2).    
5 Remove battery carrier.   AR54.10-P-0028MFA
6 Remove battery sensor (B95) ground line nut at body and place to one side. IMPORTANT For removing the heat shield (4).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, ground line (battery sensor) to body *BA54.10-P-1004-01D 
7 Remove retaining clips of inerting line, disconnect inerting line and place to one side. Model 118, 177, 247 with Engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) AR86.10-P-0119MFC
8 Remove screws (10).    
9 Remove nuts (11).    
10 Remove heat shield (3). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure heat shield (3) is correctly seated.  
11 Remove cap of brake fluid reservoir and seal with protective cover. IMPORTANT For removing the heat shield (4) via the brake fluid reservoir.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective covers Fig 1
12 Unclip vacuum line (12).    
13 Expose electric lines from support (14).    
14 Unscrew screws (13) and remove bracing (14). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolts, battery carrier to body *BA54.10-P-1009-01D 
15 Unclip electrical wiring harness from heat shield (4). INSTALLATION NOTES
Pay attention to the routing and padding of the
wiring harness and electrical connector.
To prevent noise development during vehicle operation.
NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject lines to tension This would lead to damage to the lines and can impair their function.
 
16 Remove nuts (15).    
17 Remove heat shield (4). NOTES
Carefully pull rubber section at heat shield (4) over brake fluid reservoir.
Rubber section at heat shield (4) will otherwise be damaged.
 
18 Expose nuts (16).    
19 Remove nuts (16) and remove heat shield (5).    
20 Install in the reverse order.
