Cut Off Rear Fender - Ar63.50-P-1400-02MFV

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage, these steps must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on rear fender (1) and cut (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Mark separating point along Y-markings (area B).

    The Y-marking is designed as a half-round disengagement shift tube in the are of the side window.

    IMPORTANTDimensions  :

    a = approx. 25 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on the rear fender (1) and cut out (areas D1 , D2 , D3 , E1 and E2 ).

  3. Expose spot welds on the rear fender (1) and cut out (areas F1 , F2 , F3 , F4 , F5 , F6 and F7 ).

  4. Separate adhesive bead between the outer rear wheel well and the rear fender (1) (area C^1 ).

    IMPORTANT The rear fender is bonded to the outer rear wheel well (1).

  5. Heat rear fender (1) in the cross-hatched areas (areas C1 , C2 , C3 ).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Remove rear fender (1).
  7. Remove remaining adhesive material in the area of the outer rear wheel well and detach loose adhesive material.

    IMPORTANT The height of the remaining adhesive should be max. 2 mm.

  8. Repair bare spots in area of outer rear wheel well with primer stick (area G2 ).
  9. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on insides.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  11. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G1 and G2 ).

    Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
