The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.

The following operation steps are shown on model 177.1. The work must be similarly performed on model 177.9.

1. Insert set of spacer blocks at undamaged side of roof duct between rear roof paneling (1) and side roof paneling and adjust to dimension.

   During installation, fit rear roof paneling (1) with adjusted spacer blocks.

2. Mark positions on vehicle and write down dimensions of the spacer blocks.
3. Expose spot welds at rear roof paneling (1) and cut off (areas A, B and C).

4. Heat rear roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas H).

   Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive (areas H).

5. Remove rear roof paneling (1).

6. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas (areas E, F).

   Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

7. Remove shavings and drill chips.
8. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

   Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas F).

   Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
