Prepare New Rear Fender - Ar63.50-P-1400-03MFA

Model 177.0 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on rear fender (1) and cut (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation points from vehicle.

  2. Cut off spot welds on the lock striker bracket (2) (area E).

    Only if the inner side wall is not replaced.

  3. Drill out spot weld on lock striker bracket (2) with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area D).

    Only if the inner side wall is not replaced.

  4. Heat lock striker bracket (2) in the cross-hatched area.

    Only if the inner side wall is not replaced.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  5. Remove lock striker bracket (2).

    Only if the inner side wall is not replaced.

  6. Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  7. Remove grinding dust.
  8. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area C).

    Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
