The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
Refer to the superordinate service document for further information.
The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
- Mark separating point on rear seat reinforcement (3) and cut (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the component parts below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions :
a = 40 mm
- Expose spot welds on rear seat reinforcement (3) and cut off (areas B1 , B2 , B3 , B4 , and B5 ).
- Remove rear seat reinforcement (3).
- Expose spot welds on rear bench seat mount (6) and cut off (areas C1 , C2 , and C3 ).
- Expose spot welds on rear bench seat mount (6) and cut off through two panel thicknesses (area D3 ).
- Remove rear bench seat mount (6).
- Expose spot welds on cover (4) and cut off (areas D4 , D5 , D6 , D7 , D8 , D9 , D10 , D11 , D12 , and D13 ).
- Expose spot welds on cover (4) and cut off through two panel thicknesses (areas D1 and D2 ).
- Heat cover (4) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove cover (4).
- Expose spot welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and cut off (areas E1 and E2 ).
- Expose spot welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and cut off from the bottom (area E7 ).
- Expose spot welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and drill through with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area F1 ).
- Expose spot welds on cover (5) and cut off (areas E3 , E4 , E5 , and E6 ).
- Expose spot welds on cover (5) and drill through with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area F2
).
- Expose spot welds on the connection (2) and cut off (areas G1 , G2 , and G3 ).
- Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove rear longitudinal member (1) with connection (2).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Apply zinc dust paint to the mating surfaces.
Do not coat bonding surfacers with zinc dust paint (area H).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Apply zinc dust paint to the mating surfaces onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.
Do not coat bonding surfacers with zinc dust paint (area I).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
