Remove/Install Front Axle Brake Caliper - AR42.10-P-0070LW

  Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A 
  Notes on handling, transport and storage of composite brake disks   AH42.10-P-9406-12LF 
  Notes on threaded connections fastened using a tightening angle-based tightening process   AH00.00-P-0020-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove brake hose (1)   AR42.10-P-0013LW 
2 Unscrew screw/bolt (4) and remove right front brake wear sensor electrical connector (5) When removing brake caliper (6) on right side of vehicle.

3 Remove brake linings   AR42.10-P-1610LW 
4 Remove bolt (3) and take-off brake caliper (6) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 213Guide pin to brake caliper support or bolt for guide pin to brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1004-10X 
5 Unscrew screws/bolts (2) and remove brake caliper support (9) When replacing the brake caliper support (9).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205

INSPECT Check     
6 Check brake caliper (6) and dust boot at brake piston for leak tightness and damage If a problem arises

Replace brake caliper (6).
INSTALLATION NOTES The new brake caliper (6) is shipped in prefilled condition and it must not be drained. Otherwise, the brake caliper (6) cannot be vented.
 
7 Check brake caliper support (9) for damage If a problem arises

Replace brake caliper support (9).
 
8 Check brake caliper support (9) sliding bolts (7) for damage and ease of movement If a problem arises

Replace brake caliper support (9).
 
9 Check boots (8) for damage If a problem arises

Replace brake caliper support (9).
 
10 Check brake disk (10) for wear and condition    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 205
except code B07 (Ceramic brake system)

If a problem arises

Replace brake disks (10).
AR42.10-P-0120LWG 
IMPORTANT Only replace brake disks (10) as a set. AR42.10-P-0220EWE 
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Bleed brake system Model 205, 253 AR42.10-P-0010LW 
Model 213 AR42.10-P-0010LWE 
13 Operate the brake pedal several times until brake linings (10) contact the brake disks IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
INSPECT Check     
14 Check and correct brake fluid level in expansion reservoir for brake fluid

15 Carry out brake test on the test stand
