Support the exhaust system with transmission jack (01) on rear muffler brace.

Operation step 2 only for model 172 with engine 271:
Mount assembly tool on decoupling element for the exhaust system.
To avoid damage to the exhaust system ensure correct assembly of the assembly tool on the exhaust system.
Unhook exhaust system from all exhaust rubber bearings (1).
Use antifriction paste if necessary.
Lower exhaust system
To avoid damage do not lower exhaust system more than distance (a).
