Connection scheme/wiring harness in original condition
Modify branch-off line, driver side (9.1) and branch-off line, passenger side (9.2) as follows, outside of vehicle.
- Fit round cable lugs (14) with 6 mm diameter to brown lines (BN).
- Remove contact springs (13).
Contact springs (13) are no longer required.
- Shorten red/black line (RD/BK) and red/white line (RD/WH) by 100 mm each.
- Extend red/black line (RD/BK) on branch-off line, driver side (9.1) and red/white line (RD/WH) on branch-off line, passenger side (9.2) using one 500 mm long yellow line (YE) each.
Connect using potential distributors (12); they must be taken from the
wiring harness repair kit.
- Connect 100 mm long red/black (RD/BK) and red/white (RD/WH) lines to yellow lines (YE).
Connect using potential distributors (12); they must be taken from the
wiring harness repair kit. The line colors must be the same at the beginning and at the end of the yellow line (YE).
- Wrap felt tap (15) around branch-off line, driver side (9.1) and branch-off line, passenger side (9.2), starting from the black 2-pin connectors (8.1 and 8.2) over a length of 800 mm.
- Wrap felt tape around all potential distributors (12).
- Install one contact spring (11) each at the 100 mm long red/black (RD/BK) and red/white (RD/WH) lines.
Use contact spring (11) "SLK 2.8" from the
wiring harness repair kit.
- Connect black 2-pin plug (5.2) of right illuminated door sill molding (E17/36) and black 2-pin connector (8.2) of branch-off line, passenger side (9.2).
This creates the right illuminated door sill molding (X157/16) electrical connection.
- Bond felt tape onto electrical connector for right illuminated door sill molding (X157/16) and voltage converter.
- Route brown line (BN) in cable ducts and below floor covering to ground point (right front footwell) (W15/7) and connect.
- Route red/white line (RD/WH) along existing lines below instrument panel to front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and fix in place on vehicle wiring harness using cable ties.
Use a pull-through device.
- Connect black 2-pin plug (5.1) of left illuminated door sill molding (E17/35) and black 2-pin connector (8.1) of branch-off line, driver side (9.1).
This creates the left illuminated door sill molding (X157/15) electrical connection.
- Bond felt tape onto electrical connector for left illuminated door sill molding (X157/15) and voltage converter.
- Route brown line (BN) in cable ducts and beneath floor covering to ground point (left front footwell) (W15/5) and connect.
- Route red/black line (RD/BK) along existing lines below instrument panel to front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and fix in place on vehicle wiring harness using cable ties.
Use a pull-through device.
- Remove green 10-pin connector (16) from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
- Install red/white line (RD/WH) and red/black line (RD/BK) into green 10-pin connector (16).
Contact cavity assignment:
Socket 2 red/black line (RD/BK)
Socket 4 red/white line (RD/WH)
The contact cavities of the green 10-pin connector (16) are labeled.
