General 

The rear fog light identifies the rear area of the vehicle in poor weather conditions. The rear fog light is operated via the rear fog light button on the exterior lighting switch.

Function Requirements 

• Low beam or daytime running lights on

Function 

The exterior lighting control unit (depending on given vehicle, either the signal acquisition and actuation module or the front and rear signal acquisition and actuation modules) actuates the rear fog light itself or requests its actuation. This takes place depending on the network architecture of the vehicle.

Vehicles with trailer hitch 

The rear fog light on the vehicle is not activated while the trailer is being used. Instead, the rear fog light on the trailer is controlled. The exterior lighting control unit requests activation of the rear fog light on the trailer. The trailer detection control unit implements this requirement.
