General

The reversing light illuminates the roadway behind the vehicle when reversing.

Function Requirements

Circuit 15 On ((vehicles with manual transmission or electric vehicles)
Engine running (vehicles with automatic transmission).

Function

When reverse gear or drive range "R" is engaged, the reversing light is switched on.

The control unit for the exterior lighting (depending on the vehicle, the central signal detection and activation module or the front signal detection and activation module) activates the reversing light itself or requests activation. This happens depending on the network architecture of the vehicle.

Vehicles With Trailer Hitch

During trailer operation, the reversing lights on the trailer are also switched on. The exterior lighting control unit requests actuation of the reversing light on the trailer. The trailer recognition control unit implements this request.
