In the case of low-emission exhaust concept EURO 3 in line with 99/102 EC, the engine diagnosis malfunction indicator lamp with engine symbol is installed in the instrument cluster.

As a check that the lamp is functioning correctly, the lamp lights up for 1 second with ignition ON and at an engine speed of approx. 500 rpm and higher.

If the indicator lamp does not go out, a fault exists which affects exhaust treatment.

Read out the fault memory at the diagnostic data link connector and rectify the fault.
