ME-SFI vehicle features - AH07.61-P-0002-02B
Engine 111.944/945/975
Engine 112.940 in model 208
Engine 113.943 in model 208
Engine 111.944/975
The engines fitted with a supercharger are identically installed in model 202. Engine 111.944 is available in countries with special fiscal regulations (e.g.
).
Mixture formation is performed by the ME-SFI fuel injection and ignition system, version 2.1.
Engine 111.945
Identical to naturally aspirated engine 111.945 in model 202 (with ME-SFI fuel injection and ignition system as of 1.6.1998, prior to this HFM-SFI).
Engine 112.940
This engine is identical to engine 112.941 in model 210. Mixture formation performed by the ME-SFI fuel injection and ignition system, version 2.0 or ME 2.8 as of 06/00.
Engine 113.943
This engine is identical to engine 113.940 in model 210. Mixture formation performed by the ME-SFI fuel injection and ignition system, version 2.0 or by ME 2.8 as of 06/00.
Air induction
The shape and length of the stiffener area of the radiator differs from that of model 202. The air intake system has been matched accordingly.
Starter control
Starter control features automatic starter control as on model 170.
Drive authorization system
Drive authorization system DAS 3 with electronic ignition switch EIS control module similar to model 210.
Cruise control
Cruise control function with variable vehicle speed limiter and individually programmable maximum speed.
The variable cruise control switch is directly connected at the electronic ignition switch (EIS) control module. The control signals from the variable cruise control switch are transmitted by the EIS over the engine CAN data bus to the ME-SFI control module.
CAN networking
An engine CAN databus and interior CAN databus are fitted (as on model 210).
The two subnetworks are linked to form a complete system embracing the entire vehicle by the processors in the electronic ignition switch control module. For example, the vehicle speed information or the gear information is transmitted at that point by the engine CAN databus to the interior CAN databus and is used for further functions.
The engine CAN databus networks the following components:
- ME-SFI control module
- ABS/ASR/ESP control module
- ETC control module
- Instrument cluster
- Electronic ignition switch control module
Fuel system
The fuel tank is located below the rear seats, as in model 202 (through-loading facility standard). The filler neck is matched to the space conditions.
Air is admitted to and released from the fuel tank through a separate expansion reservoir. The location of the expansion reservoir and activated charcoal canister are the same as in model 202.
Location of fuel pump assembly is the same as in model 202. A fuel filter with integrated diaphragm pressure regulator is installed on engine 112.940 with single-line system. The routing of the lines is modified as a result.
Exhaust system
On engine 111 the front part with catalytic converter is identical to the relevant model 202. On engine 112.940/113.943 the front part has two flows each with an O 2
sensor for each bank of cylinders. In the case of the EURO3/4 emission concept and
O 2
sensors are installed downstream of the firewall catalytic converters. The catalytic converter featuring trimetal technology is located in the underfloor.
The rear muffler is matched to the rear end and the volume optimized. Center muffler as in model 202.
