The switching off of the air conditioning system or the switching off of the refrigerant compressor is only possible in the menu of the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (up to model year 2018) or head unit (A26/17) (as of model year 2018).
The rear air conditioning system can be operated from the front using the climate control operating unit or the air conditioning menu.
Operation of the rear air conditioning system is then not possible in the rear using the rear climate control operating unit (N22/4).

The climate control operating unit is located in the center console.

- Pre-entry climate control (model 222.163/173)
- Residual heat utilization
