Navigation With Electric Intelligence, Basic Function - GF82.85-P-9910A

Model all (CAR)

Electric vehicles

Overview

This document contains information on:

General

Navigation with Electric Intelligence calculates a quick and convenient route, taking into account numerous factors. If charging stops are required to reach the destination, these are automatically planned in and are taken into account for navigation.

This makes the driving experience significantly more convenient for the driver. Precise trip planning is also possible.

Function

Navigation with Electric Intelligence calculates the fastest and most convenient route including charging stops. The following factors are taken into account here along the route:

In order to determine the energy consumption to be expected for the route to be covered, the three-dimensional road topography, the outside temperatures, and a statistically determined vehicle speed are used. Based on the vehicle and battery properties, the current energy required by the high-voltage battery is determined for each section of the route. Using the information on the charging stations available along the route such as availability and charging power, the ideal locations for the charging stops are selected by the system. For each charging stop, not only is the required amount of energy and the predicted charging time precalculated and displayed, but also, if required, the driver is informed via their smartphone if the charging goal planned by the system has been reached. If the driver does not react to this information or only after a delay, it is possible to continue charging.

The driver does not have to charge the high-voltage battery to 100%.

They can also charge flexibly multiple times for shorter periods of time with a higher charging power at a suitable charging station and therefore shorten their trip time if this is important to them.

The route planning can also be carried out via the app in advance. If it is confirmed in the vehicle's navigation system before the trip is started, the route is reloaded using the current information.

The calculation takes place in the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud.

This means that all data required for energy and route planning is available centrally and is up-to-date.

The default settings of Navigation with Electric Intelligence can be customized. While usage down to approx. 10% residual energy content can be set in the basic setting of the high-voltage battery's energy content, the driver can change the specification for the residual energy content. This means that, for example, the driver can set if they want to go to a charging station at a residual energy content of 10 - 25%. The residual energy content can also be defined when the destination is reached. A subsequent destination or return trip can also be taken into account for route planning.
