Location
The left or right rear display is located on the rear of the driver or front passenger seat at the top end of the backrest.
The two displays are identical. The pin assignment (cf. connector 1, pin 6) in document "Left/right rear display pin/connector assignment") is used to differentiate between the left and right rear displays.

CAN
The rear display (A40/5, A40/6) is a subscriber of the telematics CAN (CAN A), via which it communicates with the audio equipment as a gateway. Control communication, for example, from the rear entertainment controller unit (A26/18) is received.
Direct lines
- Power supply via circuit 30g (up to model year 2018), circuit 30t (from model year 2018) and circuit 31
- Up to model year 2018: Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) line for audio and video signals from the rear entertainment controller unit
- From model year 2018: High Speed Video Link (HSVL) line for audio and video signals from the rear entertainment controller unit
Kleer® radio interface
The Kleer® radio interface in the left or right rear display receives the remote control signals for the rear entertainment system.

The rear display (A40/5, A40/6) sends the control communication for the rear entertainment controller unit via the telematics CAN to the audio equipment as a gateway.

The rear display (A40/5, A40/6) sends audio signals to a set of cabled headphones via the integrated connector.
Structure
The rear display (A40/5, A40/6) has an illuminated button for switching on and off, as well as an audio amplifier for the integrated headphones connection.
The rear display (A40/5, A40/6) has the following properties:
- 10.2" thin film transistor (TFT) colour display
- Display format 16:9
- Maximum resolution of 960 X 540 pixels, 3 X 6 bit color depth (rear display can display 262, 144 colors)
From model year 2018, the display has a protective glass that improves legibility.
