Location
The mobile phone cradle control unit is located in the stowage compartment of the center console.
Tasks
The mobile phone cradle control unit is responsible for the following:
- Power supply via circuit 30t and circuit 31 (input)
- Reception of switch-in signal (Wake-up) via telematics CAN (CAN A) from the head unit (A26/17) (input)
- Sending of switch-on signal (Wake-up) to the cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator (A28/15)
- Charging of battery for smartphones that support the Qi standard:
- Inductive charging of smartphone battery (with cooling at same time) (output)
- Sending charge level for smartphone battery via telematics CAN to the head unit (output)
- Reception of charge level for smartphone battery through capacitive coupling with smartphone (input)
- Control signal for activation of inductive charging of smartphone battery (input)
- Smartphone connection via the cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator, telephone antenna changeover switch (A2/168) (with code 380 (Car telephony package)), telephone, stationary heater and Remote Parking Pilot antenna changeover switch (A2/155) (with code B24 (Remote control for stationary heater) or with code 503 (Pre-installation for Remote Parking Pilot)) to the multifunction antenna (model 222) or telephone and stationary heater antenna (A2/22) (model 217):
- Data exchange of telephone and Internet signals over the cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator (input, output)
- Data exchange of telephone and Internet signals over a capacitive coupling between smartphone and mobile phone cradle control unit (input, output)
- Data exchange with head unit via telematics CAN and Near Field Communication antenna (A2/156) with NFC interface of smartphone for simpler smartphone connection with the vehicle (input, output)
- Reception of a key code for drive authorization from smartphone via integrated NFC interface and forwarding of code via telematics CAN to head unit (with code 896 (Vehicle access and drive authorization over mobile phone)) (input)
Structure
The mobile phone cradle control unit is equipped with an NFC interface for wireless data exchange and an antenna for capacitive communication. An induction loop is installed that enables wireless electrical charging of the smartphone battery.
