Heating Wiper Support, Function - GF82.30-P-2003LF

Model 217, 222

Function requirements, general

Heated wiper park position, general

The aerodynamically optimized location of the wiper arms requires the wiper park position to be heated because this area is not sufficiently heated by the defroster outlets in the vehicle interior.

The wiper blades are prevented from being frozen at the park position at outside temperatures of T < 5°C by the wiper park position heater (R2/10).

The heated wiper park position function encompasses the following subfunctions:

Function sequence for heated wiper park position depending on outside temperature

The front SAM control unit automatically switches on the wiper park position heater at an outside temperature of T < 5°C.

The outside temperature is detected by the outside temperature sensor (B14). The front SAM control unit reads in the signals of the outside temperature sensor and uses them to calculate the outside temperature.

The wiper park position heater is activated as follows once for each ignition cycle depending on the measured outside temperature:

At T = 8°C, the wiper park position heater is switched off.

If, at an outside temperature of T 1°C, the defrost function is requested via the defrosting button (N58/1s21) at the climate control operating unit (N58/1), the wiper park position heater will also be switched on.

Actuation of the defrosting button is read in by the climate control operating unit. The climate control operating unit sends the status of the defrosting button to the front SAM control unit via the climate control LIN (LIN B8-3), the climate control, control unit (N22/1) and the interior CAN.

Function sequence for heated wiper park position depending on wiper mode

At an outside temperature of T < 3°C, the "Heated wiper park position depending on outside temperature" function is ended and for three wipe requests within t = 15 s, the wiper park position heater is switched on.

At an outside temperature of T > 6°C or if a wipe request is not issued for t = 2 minutes, then the wiper park position heater is switched off.

Wipe requests are defined via the switch position of the combination switch (S4). The steering column tube module control unit (N80) reads in the switch position of the combination switch directly and sends it to the front SAM control unit via chassis FlexRay, electronic ignition lock control unit and interior CAN.

IMPORTANT If the windshield washer system pump (M5/1) or the Night & Day View Assist long-range camera washer fluid pump (M5/2) (with code (610) Night View Assist) is actuated, the wiper park position heater actuation is interrupted. If the windshield washer system pump or the Night & Day View Assist long-range camera washer fluid pump is no longer actuated, the wiper park position heater is actuated again after t = 5 s.

IMPORTANT The energy management can also interrupt the wiper park position heater. The remaining time is then resumed once the interruption is over. Detailed information is available in a separate document.
