Install Upper Front Longitudinal Member - Ar62.20-P-1286-03LFS

Model 222 

with code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Install upper front longitudinal member (1) fit and fix in place.
  2. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in upper front longitudinal member (1) (areas A, B and E).

    IMPORTANT Transfer position of present holes in body to new part (area A)

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from inside through present rivet holes in body (areas B).

  3. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in upper front longitudinal member (1) (areas C).

    Only if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is not used for installation.

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from inside through present rivet holes in body.

  4. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in upper front longitudinal member (1) (area D).

    IMPORTANT Counter sink rivet hole to obtain a flat surface to allow fender to be adjusted later, if required.

    IMPORTANT Transfer position of present rivet hole in body to new part.

  5. Remove upper front longitudinal member (1).
  6. Deburr drill holes on upper front longitudinal member (1) and body on both sides
  7. Remove drilling chips.
  8. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  9. Install upper front longitudinal member (1) and fix in place.
  10. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivets (areas F).
  11. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas G and K).

    IMPORTANT Flow form rivets with a clamping range of 3.35 mm to 4.1 "S2" can be used if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is used for installation (area K)

  12. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.4x14 countersunk head rivet (area J).
  13. Upper front longitudinal member (1) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (areas L).
  14. Upper front longitudinal member (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas M).
  15. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivets (area O).
  16. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (area P).

    IMPORTANT Flow form rivets with a clamping range of 3.35 mm to 4.1 "S2" can be used, if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is used for installation (area H2).

  17. Install strut (2) fit and fix in place.
  18. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in strut (2) (area H1 ).

    Only if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is not used for installation.

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from rear through present rivet holes in body.

  19. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in strut (2) (areas H3 ).
  20. Remove strut (2).
  21. Drill rivet holes in strut (2) and deburr on body on both sides.
  22. Remove drilling chips.

  23. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  24. Install strut (2) and fix in place.
  25. Rivet strut (2) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivets (areas I).
  26. Rivet strut (2) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas H and H2 ).

    IMPORTANT Flow form rivets with a clamping range of 3.35 mm to 4.1 "S2" can be used if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is used for installation (area H2 ).
