With the "Digital Vehicle Key" function, there is an additional option for unlocking/locking the vehicle and receiving drive authorization.

Key track 

An individual key track is used in the vehicle for the "Digital Vehicle Key" function. This can be recognized by the smartphone symbol in the locking data record (key track 5). Classic transmitter keys must not be programmed on this track because otherwise the function can no longer be used with the smartphone.

Availability of classic transmitter key in a service case 

If a vehicle is being taken to the Service Partner because of a problem, the customer must be informed that they must always bring a classic transmitter key with them. Otherwise the customer must leave their smartphone with the Service Partner so that the Service Partner has access to the vehicle. If it is not possible to procure a transmitter key, an additional key must be programmed. When doing so, the usual procedure for theft-relevant component part transmitter key applies. For programming with XENTRY, the customer's smartphone must be available in order to be able to switch on the ignition. Retention of the newly programed transmitter key must be documented as per the known specifications regarding theft-relevant parts. When handing the transmitter key over to the customer, the missing emergency key is to be indicated.

Loss or theft of smartphone 

The service must be deactivated in Mercedes Me connect if the smartphone is lost. If the smartphone is no longer online, it is recommended that the corresponding key track be locked in the workshop.

The "Digital Vehicle Key" service cannot be activated when the key track is locked. If the service is to be reactivated, the key track must first be enabled again using XENTRY.

Check in the event of a fault 

It is possible to determine whether the problem lies with the vehicle or the smartphone during the Vehicle Inspection by checking the NFC interfaces using an NFC test card.

If the test of the NFC interfaces was performed and near-field communication is present on the smartphone, outside door handle and center console stowage tray:

• Ensure that the customer has correctly activated the "Digital Vehicle Key" service.
• Ensure that the customer has not made any changes to the vehicle, smartphone or SIM card.
