Two-way radio hands-free system, general 

The two-way radio hands-free system allows the driver to communicate, e.g. with the taxi dispatch, via the two-way radio (A49) (accessories) or the radio data transceiver (A49/5) (accessories). Active audio sources are automatically muted during the two-way radio call.

The two-way radio or the radio data transceiver are located behind the left side cover in the trunk (with code (335) Two-way radio bracket in trunk).

Function sequence for two-way radio hands-free system 

Pressing the two-way radio cut-in switch (S93/2) switches the two-way radio or the radio data transceiver to the transmit mode. The driver can set up a radio connection. While speaking, the two-way radio actuation switch must remain pressed. The voice is recorded by the taxi radio microphone (B25/10), which is located behind the inside rear-view mirror (A67).

As soon as the two-way radio cut-in switch is released, voice output from the conversational partner is issued through the taxi radio speaker (H6).

The special-purpose vehicle multifunction control unit (N26/9) reads in the status of the two-way radio cut-in switch directly and sends it over the multifunction CAN (CAN K) to the two-way radio or the radio data transceiver.

The two-way radio or the radio data transceiver reads in the voice output from the taxi radio microphone directly and sends this over the radio roof antenna (A28/9) to the conversational partner.

Incoming radio signals are received by the radio roof antenna, processed by the two-way radio or the radio data transceiver and issued through the taxi radio speaker.

If the two-way radio cut-in is active, a corresponding symbol is shown on the instrument cluster (A1). Active audio sources are muted. To do so, the multifunction control unit sends the "Two-way radio cut-in active" signal over the interior CAN (CAN B), electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster and to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3). The instrument cluster actuates the display in the instrument cluster. The COMAND controller unit mutes any active audio sources.
