Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit over the interior CAN.

Garage door opener, general

The garage door opener transmitter unit is a remote control capable of learning with which various receivers of the opening and locking systems for doors or gates can be activated. The garage door opener is integrated into the inside rearview mirror. The signals from the garage door opener are read by the front SAM control unit via the roof LIN. The garage door opener radio signal has a range of approx. 85 % of the original hand transmitter.

The following frequencies are available:

with code (231) Garage door opener:

In addition with code (232) Garage door opener with frequency 284-390 MHz:

User guidance (single-hand operation) consists of a multicolored indicator lamp in the garage door opener (green, yellow and red).

The garage door opener function comprises the following partial functions:

Function sequence, transmit radio signal

When one of the following buttons is pressed, a radio signal assigned to this memory is transmitted:

The function is confirmed by the garage door opener indicator lamp (green).

Function sequence, program the memories

Keep desired garage door opener button pressed for at least t = 10 s. As a result the garage door opener changes into learning mode which is displayed by the flashing of the garage door opener (yellow) at a frequency of f = 1 Hz. Then hold original hand transmitter with transmitter function activated close to the garage opener for up to t = 90 s (s = 3 to 20 cm). The transmission frequency for the transmitter is now learned. In the process the garage door opener transmitter unit searches for the suitable frequency among the possible transmission frequencies. Successful termination of the teach-in procedure is indicated by the garage door opener indicator lamp illuminating green (fixed code learned in) or flashing green (variable code with f = 5.6 Hz learned in). An unsuccessful attempt is indicated by the garage door opener indicator lamp illuminating red.

IMPORTANT The garage door opener is compatible with approx. 85% of the garage door opening systems offered on the primary turnover markets. If the original hand transmitter is not compatible with the garage door opener, a universal receiver ("Fix Kit Receiver") which reacts to the in-plant programming of the garage door opener can be installed in the garage.

Function sequence, erase the memories

To erase the memories, press the two outer garage door opener buttons (buttons 1 and 3) simultaneously for a period of a least t = 10 s. The garage door opener indicator lamp flashes green for t = 10 s. Release garage door opener buttons during flashing phase. The existing data of the memory locations is erased.

IMPORTANT The garage door opener goes to the learn-in mode when one of the three garage door opener buttons is pressed again. If no programming is performed in learning mode during a period of t = 100 s, the garage door opener switches off automatically to protect the on-board electrical system.

Function sequence for resetting to as-delivered state

To reset press the two outer garage door opener buttons (buttons 1 and 3) simultaneously for at least t = 30 s.

Basic setting:

Function sequence for protection against misuse

The front SAM control unit sends a security code to the garage door opener over the roof LIN with each communication operation. If the safety code transmitted does not coincide with the stored safety code, the channels learned in are erased. However, the national coding is maintained.
