Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]), general
The ATA monitors all relevant inputs after locking the vehicle with the central locking (CL). If a change of status is detected at one of the monitored inputs, an acoustic and visual alarm is given. The acoustic alarm is output via the alarm siren in vehicles except code 882 (Interior monitoring) and in vehicles except code 882 (Interior monitoring) via the left and right horn. The visual alarm is output via the turn signals. In addition the interior illumination is switched on.
The front SAM control unit has the master function for the ATA [ATA].
In vehicles with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or with code 882 (interior protection) the front SAM control unit and overhead control panel control unit share the master function (as of 01.06.2017 (model 222) and/or 01.12.2017 (model 217)) and/or the ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit (up to 31.05.2017 (model 222) and/or 30.11.2017 (model 217)).
The ATA [EDW], when armed, monitors:
- Doors
- Trunk lid
- Engine hood
- Alarm siren (except code 494 (USA version))
- Change in the vehicle's location (tow-away protection) (with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or with code 882 (interior protection))
- Movement of the vehicle (parking damage detection) (as of 01.06.2017 (model 222) and/or 01.12.2017 (model 217, except model 217.4) with code 882 (interior protection) or with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)))
- Movements in the vehicle interior (interior protection) (with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or with code 882 (interior protection))
