ATA/Tow-Away Protection/Interior Protection Control Unit, Component Description - GF80.50-P-4131LF
Model 217, 222
up to model year 2018
with code 882 (Interior motion sensor)
Model 217.3, 222, shown on model 222.0
Location
The ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit is integrated into the overhead control panel control unit (N70).
Model 217.4
Location
The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit is located in the center of the center console between the rear seats.
Tasks
The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
- Sending and receiving ultrasonic waves (model 217.3, 222)
- Recognizing changes of vehicle inclination
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Alarm system LIN (LIN B14)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Alarm system LIN
The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit reads in the signals of the following components over the alarm system LIN.
- Alarm siren (H3/1)
- Left front door interior protection sensor (B44/1) (model 217.4)
- Right front door interior protection sensor (B44/2) (model 217.4)
- Left rear door interior protection sensor (B44/3) (model 217.4)
- Right rear door interior protection sensor (B44/4) (model 217.4)
Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group via the interior CAN.
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Output of signals
The signals are issued through the following connections:
- Alarm system LIN
- Interior CAN
Alarm system LIN
The anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group actuates the alarm siren via the alarm system LIN.
Interior CAN
The signals are transmitted by the anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group via the interior CAN.
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Sending and receiving ultrasonic waves (model 217.3, 222)
The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit monitors the vehicle interior for movements by sending and receiving ultrasonic waves.
The anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group includes the following components:
- Interior protection receiver (N26/6a1)
- Left interior protection transmitter (N26/6b1)
- Right interior protection transmitter (N26/6b2)
Recognizing changes of vehicle inclination
An inclination sensor integrated into the ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit recognizes an alarm-relevant change of inclination. Then an alarm is output.
