| 1 | Perform initial startup of steering column tube module (1) | Only when replacing steering column tube module (1). | |
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | AD00.00-P-2000-04B | ||
| 2 | Move steering wheel all the way to the rear | ||
| 3 | Remove steering wheel | AR46.10-P-0100LF | |
| 4 | Unclip cover (2) from steering column tube module (1) | Otherwise, the cover (2) may be damaged. |

| If cover (2) damaged: ↓ Replace steering column tube module (1). |

| 5 | Unclip cover for steering column tube (4) by hand from steering column tube module (1) | ||
| 6 | Pull steering column tube module (1) toward rear until cable duct (5) is accessible | Do not operate the red safety catches in the steering column tube module (1). Otherwise irreparable damage will be caused to the fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact. If the steering column tube module (1) is replaced: ↓ Break off transport lock (8) after assembly. |

| 7 | Release cable duct (5) using a suitable screwdriver (6) (arrow A) and unclip from steering column tube cover (4) | ||
| 8 | Remove retaining clip (9) and disconnect electrical connector (10) | ||
| 9 | Using a metal straightedge (11) (as shown), release catch hook (arrow B) on cable duct (5) and unclip cable duct (5) from steering column tube module (1) | ||
| 10 | Remove steering column tube module (1) from steering column tube | ||
| 11 | Install in the reverse order |
