CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
2 Open front cover on center console.    
3 Remove cup holder. Model 217, 222
with code 310 (Double cup holder)
 
4 Remove touchpad (A105). Model 217
with code 448 (Touchpad)

5 Open hand rest (1), unclip telephone keypad (A2/7) through the opening (arrow A) from the housing for the telephone keypad (2) and detach electrical connector from telephone keypad (A2/7). Model 217, 222

6 Remove bolt (3). Model 217, 222

7 Grasp with hand between cover of center console stowage tray and center console, then push Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) upwards.    
8.1 Lift up Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) until electrical connector (4) is accessible. Model 217, 222

8.2 Lift up Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) together with touchpad (A105) until electrical connector (4) and electrical connector on touchpad (A105) are accessible. Model 217, 222
with code 446 (Touchpad only)
IMPORTANT The Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) is removed together with touchpad (A105).
 
8.3 Lift up Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) together with telephone keypad housing (2) until electrical connector (4) is accessible. Model 217, 222

IMPORTANT The Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) is removed together with telephone keypad housing (2).
 
9.1 Release and disconnect electrical connector (4). Model 217, 222

9.2 Release and disconnect electrical connector at touchpad (A105) and electrical connector (4). Model 217, 222

10 Install in the reverse order.
