The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Install C-pillar (1), fit, and fix in place.
- Mark position of rivet holes on rear center section.
The distance between the rivet holes and the outer edge should be at least 10 mm.
Dimensions :
a = approx 17 mm
b = approx. 18 mm
- Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes on C-pillar (1) (area C).
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint (area C).
After removing C-pillar (1) and deburring rivet holes.

- Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes on C-pillar (1) and countersink (area D).
Only if no riveter for punching and flow-form rivets is used for installation.
Countersink rivet holes to create level surface when riveting.
Otherwise the rear fender cannot be installed correctly.
- Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in C-pillar (1) (areas E and F).
Drill rivet hole in center of flange The distance between the rivet hole and the outer edge should be at least 10 mm (area F).

Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.
Connection is bonded.
- Remove C-pillar (1).
- Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) and deburr on body on both sides.
- Cut out structural foam part in area of rivet holes until rivets can be inserted without problems (area G).
- Remove drilling chips.

- Clip upper foam part (2) and lower foam part (3) into C-pillar (1).
Insert upper foam part (2) with sealant.
- Apply sealant to upper foam part (2) and lower foam part (3) in crosshatched areas.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to reinforcements in crosshatched area (area N).

- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

- Install C-pillar (1) fit and fix in place.
- Rivet C-pillar (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (areas I and O).

- Rivet C-pillar (1) with Ø 6.4x14 countersunk head rivets (area J).
Flow-form rivet structure up to 3.5 mm clamping range "S1" can also be used if a riveter for punching and flow-form rivets is used for installation.
