Opening Engine Hood, Moving To Upright Position And Closing - AR88.40-P-1000LCA

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Risk of death  when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines. With Motor 157, 176, 177, 256, 276, 277, 278, 279, 642 AS00.00-Z-0035-01A
  Open hood     
1 Pull lever (3) in left inner footwell to release hood (1) IMPORTANT Hood (1) pops up, slightly lift hood (1) if necessary.  
2 Pull handle piece (4) of safety hook upward and open hood (1) NOTES Windshield wiper arms must not be folded forward.
Paint damage to hood (1) can otherwise occur.
 
  Move to upright position     
3 Press red release knob (2) at left and right pneumatic spring and position hood (1) upright    
  Close engine hood     
4 Press red release knob (2) at left and right pneumatic spring and close hood (1) IMPORTANT Only place your hands on front edges of hood (1).  
5 Check locking function of hood catch; for this purpose, suddenly pull hood (1) upward
