The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

- Install B-pillar reinforcement (2) and inner B-pillar (3) with portal bracket, fit and fix in place.
Use spacers.
- Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in B-pillar reinforcement (2).
The distance between the rivet holes and the outer edge of the roof frame should be at least 10 mm.
- Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in inner B-pillar (3).
- Remove portal bracket, B-pillar reinforcement and inner B-pillar (3).
- Deburr rivet holes on B-pillar reinforcement and inner B-pillar (3) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints on inner B-pillar (3) with zinc dust paint.

- Install upper B-pillar (3) and fix in place.
- Rivet inner B-pillar (3) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (area B).
- Weld in inner B-pillar (3) with
(area A).
Clean weld joints no longer accessible after installing B-pillar reinforcement and coat with zinc dust paint (area A).

- Apply 2-component adhesive to body and inner B-pillar (3) in crosshatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.
- Clean contact surface of structured foam parts (4) on body, apply 2-component adhesive for reinforcements on body and insert structured foam parts (4).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.
- Apply 2-component adhesive for reinforcement on structured foam parts (4).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

- Install B-pillar reinforcement (2) with portal bracket, fit and fix in place.
Use spacers.
- Rivet B-pillar reinforcement (2) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas C1).
- B-pillar reinforcement (2)

- B-pillar reinforcement (2)
(areas K).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas K).
Grind down flat on contact surfaces on B-pillar paneling (1) and beaded area only.
- Clean inert gas welds no longer accessible after installing B-pillar paneling (1) and coat with zinc dust paint (areas K).

- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas D).

- Clean contact surface of structured foam parts (5) on body, apply 2-component adhesive for reinforcements on body and insert structured foam parts (5).
- Apply 2-component adhesive for reinforcements on structured foam part (5).

- Sand bonding surface on structured foam part with fine-grit sand paper and apply 2-component adhesive for reinforcement of structured foam part (area E).

The resistance spot welds must be positioned at exactly the same position as the previous resistance spot welds, because these areas were glued at the factory (areas G).
Otherwise the required minimum strength of the weld joint is not ensured.
