REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove spare wheel with stowage tray in the load compartment. Model 167.9 with code 669 (Spare tire on steel rim) with code 811 (Advanced sound system) except code M036 (Maybach version)
Model 167.9 with code 669 (Spare tire on steel rim) with code U68 (Active engine sound generator) except code M036 (Maybach version)
 
2 Remove load compartment cover.    
3 Remove partitioning net in load compartment. Model 167.9 with code U40 (Safety net for luggage cover) except code M036 (Maybach version)  
4 Fold in seat backrest of third seat row.    
5 Move rear seat to EASY-ENTRY position.    
6 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
7 Remove edge guard in working area of liftgate opening.    
8 Remove rear-end center-section trim.   AR68.30-P-4786ME 
9 Remove cargo retainers (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, cargo retainers to body *BA68.50-P-1001-03F 
10 Remove edge guard in working area of rear door.    
11 Remove rear door sill.   AR68.30-P-4100ME 
12 Remove seat belt end fitting of rear seat belt (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rear belt end fitting *BA91.40-P-1005-01U 
13 Remove screw/bolts (3).    
14 Unclip load compartment trim (4) (arrows) and remove until electrical connectors (6, 7) can be accessed. NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to lines and can impair their function.
IMPORTANT Electrical connector (7) is only present on right side of vehicle.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that load compartment trim (4) is correctly seated in corresponding cutouts at C-and D-pillar trim.
SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge

15 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (6, 7). IMPORTANT Electrical connector (7) is only present on right side of vehicle.  
16 Remove load compartment trim (4) towards rear from vehicle. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that third seat row seat belt (5) is correctly positioned.  
17 Remove detachable parts and electrical wiring harness from load compartment trim (4). When replacing load compartment trim (4).  
18 Install in the reverse order.
