Check Vehicle Level At Front And Rear Axle With Electronic Inclinometer, Adjust If Necessary - AR40.20-P-0301ME

INSPECT Check     
1 Check condition of vehicle. IMPORTANT Before the vehicle level check, it must be ensured that none of the suspension components are damaged or exhibit wear.  
    IMPORTANT For the vehicle level check, all vehicle parts must be installed and the vehicle completed and in a ready to drive condition. The vehicle must not be loaded.  
2 Check and correct tire pressure.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP40.15-P-4061A 
3 Drive the vehicle onto measuring station and secure using parking brake.    
4 Unlock turn and slip plates.    
5 Remove rear transverse control arm trims.    
6 Clean measurement areas (a, b, c).    
7 Place measurement sensor (086a) in measurement areas (a) and measure vehicle level at measuring point 1 (left front) and measuring point 2 (right front). NOTES
The connecting cable (086b) of the measurement sensor (086a) must point towards the center of the vehicle. Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate.
 
    IMPORTANT Save measured values.  
8.1 Place measurement sensor (086a) in measurement areas (b) and measure vehicle level at measuring point 3 (left rear) and measuring point 4 (right rear). Model 167 (except 167.154/161/188/189/354/361/388/389/989) with code 490 (Electrohydraulic suspension) Model 167.154/354

    NOTES
The connecting cable (086b) of the measurement sensor (086a) must point towards the center of the vehicle. Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate.
 
    IMPORTANT The measurement areas (b) are located or the rear axle shafts. Save measured values.  
8.2 Place measurement sensor (086a) in measurement areas (c) and measure vehicle level at measuring point 3 (left rear) and measuring point 4 (right rear). Model 167 (except 167.154/161/188/189/354/361/388/389/989)
except code 490 (Electrohydraulic suspension)
 
    NOTES
The connecting cable (086b) of the measurement sensor (086a) must point towards the center of the vehicle. Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate.
 
    IMPORTANT The measurement areas (c) are located on the rear tie rods.
Save measured values.
 
9 Attach rear transverse control arm trims.    
10 Check maximum permissible difference in vehicle level between left and right side of vehicle at front axle. Assign suspension data AR40.20-P-0203ME 
    IMPORTANT The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level but not for calibration.  
11 Check maximum permissible difference in vehicle level between left and right side of vehicle at rear axle. Assign suspension data AR40.20-P-0203ME 
    IMPORTANT The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level but not for calibration.  
  Adjust     
12 Calibrate vehicle level using vehicle diagnosis system. Model 167
with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
When the vehicle level is outside the test tolerance.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06ME
13 Check headlamp adjustment. Only if the vehicle level has been calibrated.
