Overview 

This document contains information on the functions, location and structure of the Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit.

General 

The Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit is the controller unit for the entertainment and communication systems integrated into the rear passenger compartment. Together with the head unit, the Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit forms the control for the multi-seat entertainment system.

The Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit is connected to the vehicle's network architecture. The Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit is equipped with a high speed data line to the head unit and to the telematics services communication module.

The Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit contains the following components:

• WLAN receiver
• Bluetooth® receiver
• Voice control system
• Map data memory

Location 

The Rear Seat-Entertainment System control unit is located in the trunk at the left behind the side trim.

Functions 

The Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit has the following tasks:

• Read-in microphone signals from rear passenger compartment hands-free system
• Radio communication through external WLAN antennas
• Communication with rear passenger compartment displays
• Communication with mobile devices connected through HDMI connections
• High speed communication with head unit and telematics services communication module
