Upper Front Longitudinal Member Partial Installation - Ar62.20-P-1287-03ME

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle in model 167.1. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install upper front longitudinal member (1) and striker plate (4), fit and fix in place using the straighteners and the SPECIAL TOOL welding fixture.
  2. Drill rivet holes on upper front longitudinal member (1) and on striker plate (4) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas K).
  3. Remove upper front longitudinal member (1) and striker plate (4).
  4. Deburr rivet holes on upper front longitudinal member (1), striker plate (4) and body on both sides.
  5. Remove drilling chips.
  6. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
  7. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (M).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  8. Install upper front longitudinal member (1) and striker plate (4), fit and fix in place using the straighteners and the SPECIAL TOOL welding fixture.
  9. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) and striker plate (4) using a rivet with a diameter of 6.5x12.5 (areas K1 ).
  10. Upper front longitudinal member (1) and striker plate (4) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas H).
  11. Bend sheet metal lug closed (arrow).
  12. Upper front longitudinal member (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area G).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  13. Surface grind inert gas weld on upper front longitudinal member (1) (area G).

  14. Striker plate (4) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas E).
  15. Striker plate (4) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area D).
  16. Fit and fix in place the bracket (1.1) using the SPECIAL TOOL welding fixture.
  17. Drill rivet holes on bracket (1.1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (area F).
  18. Take off the bracket (1.1).
  19. Deburr rivet holes on bracket (1.1) and on body on both sides.
  20. Remove drilling chips.
  21. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  22. Fit and fix in place the bracket (1.1) using the welding fixture.
  23. Rivet the bracket (1.1) using rivets with a diameter of 6.5x12.5 (area F1 ).
  24. Remove the straighteners and the SPECIAL TOOL welding fixture.

  25. Fit and fix the strut (3) in place.
  26. Drill rivet holes in the strut (3) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas C).
  27. Remove strut (3).
  28. Deburr rivet holes in strut (3) and body on both sides.
  29. Remove drilling chips.
  30. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  31. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  32. Fit and fix the strut (3) in place.
  33. Rivet strut (3) using rivets having a diameter of 6.5x12.5 (areas C1 ).
  34. Strut (3) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas C2).
  35. Strut (3) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area L).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.
