Front Longitudinal Member Section Installation And Weld In - Ar62.20-P-1260-07ME

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 167.1. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install rear longitudinal member front section (1), fit with straightening tools and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes in longitudinal member front section (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas M).
  3. Remove straightening tools and longitudinal member front section (1).
  4. Deburr rivet holes in longitudinal member front section (1) and in body on both sides.
  5. Remove drilling chips.
  6. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
  7. Model 167

    with code M176 (V8 spark-ignition engine M176)

    with code M177 (V8 spark ignition engine M177 - AMG)

    Model 167

    with code ME05 (Hybrid drive 85 kW-94 kW variant (incl. plug-in))

    Apply 2-component adhesive on body in cross-hatched area (area L).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  8. Install longitudinal member front section (1) with straightening tools and fix in place.
  9. Longitudinal member front section (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas C and D).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  10. Rivet longitudinal member front section (1) with rivet Ø 6.5x12.5 (area E2 ).
  11. Longitudinal member front section (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area E).

  12. Longitudinal member front section (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area G).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  13. Rivet longitudinal member front section (1) with rivet Ø 6.5x12.5 (areas M1 ).
  14. Longitudinal member front section (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas and K).
  15. Fit and fix in place end plate (2).
  16. Drill rivet holes in end plate (2) with Ø 6.7 mm (area N).
  17. Remove end plate (2).
  18. Deburr rivet holes in end plate (2) and in body on both sides.
  19. Remove drilling chips.
  20. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  21. Rivet end plate (2) with rivet Ø 6.5x12.5 (area N1 ).
  22. Rivet end plate (2) with rivet Ø 6.5x14.5 (area N2 ).
