Install New Radial Sealing Ring At Drive Pinion Gear (With Differential Installed) - AR35.31-P-0530LW

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.		 AS00.40-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove exhaust system from rear flange connection onwards. Model 205 with engine 177, 276

2 Remove propeller shaft (7) from joint flange (41) at rear axle differential (50) and secure. Model 205 AR41.10-P-0050LW
    Model 253 (except 253.992/993) AR41.10-P-0050LWX
3 Unscrew collar nut (40). IMPORTANT To do so, screw 2 screws into joint flange (41) and counterhold joint flange (41) using SPECIAL TOOL counterholder.

4 Remove joint flange (41). SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 2
5 Check joint flange (41) for damage. If damage is found,
↓
Replace joint flange (41).		  
6 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (42) out of rear axle differential (50) using suitable tool. NOTES Do not damage seat of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50). Otherwise leaks may occur.  
INSTALLING Install     
7 Clean sitting surface of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50). Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
8 Check sitting surface of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50) for damage. If damage is found,
↓
Replace rear axle differential (50).

9 Coat radial shaft sealing ring (42) on inner sealing lip with universal hypoid gear oil.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7) NOTES Do not apply any oil to the seat surface and outer circumference of the radial shaft sealing ring (42).
Otherwise leaks may occur.
IMPORTANT Replace radial shaft sealing ring (42).		 BB00.40-P-0235-07A
10 Press radial shaft sealing ring (42) into rear axle differential (50). SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 6

11 Grease gearing of joint flange (41). Molykote paste HTP special lubricating grease *BR00.45-Z-1028-06A 
12 Install joint flange (41).    
13 Tighten and caulk collar nut (40). IMPORTANT Replace collar nut (40).

16 Check oil level in rear axle differential (50) and correct if necessary. Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487), 253 except 253.388/389/988/989/992/993)
