Remove Sealant - AR01.00-P-0050-01A

Engine all (4xWD, CAR, Heavy transporter, Light transporter, smart)

  1. Before starting work, seal all relevant major assembly openings of the engine (e.g. oil ducts etc.) with suitable stop plugs SPECIAL TOOL or with a lint-free cloth.
  2. Remove operating fluids and other soiling from the sealing surface with a dry lint-free cloth.

    IMPORTANT Ensure that no dirt particles or sealant residues, etc. enter the engine, major assembly openings.

  3. Adhesive and sealant remover Spray Loctite 7200 onto the sealing surfaces and leave for approx. 10 to 20 minutes.

    IMPORTANT Only cleaning with the approved adhesive and sealant remover is permitted.

    IMPORTANT Observe processing information from manufacturer.

  4. Removed dissolved sealant and other particles from the sealing surfaces and wipe with a dry lint-free cloth.

    NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.

    Otherwise, damage to the sealing surfaces and then engine and environmental damage may result.

    NOTES Mechanical processing or cleaning of the sealing surfaces by means of overgrinding with abrasive paper or other abrasive materials to remove sealing residue is not permitted (refer to pictures marked with a red cross).

    Even the smallest amounts of aluminum oxide particles, grinding particles or wear debries entering the oil reservoir, the bearing points or the combustion chambers will cause damage and thus result in damage to the engine/major assemblies.

    IMPORTANT The sealing surfaces must feel even after treatment. The sealing surfaces do not have to be metallically bright; thin layers of firmly adhering sealant may remain (refer to pictures with green check marks).

    IMPORTANT Regular and parallel machining traces caused by automatic machining of the sealing surface in the manufacturer's plant can be identified after cleaning (refer to picutres with green check marks).

  5. Thoroughly clean the sealing surfaces with Loctite 7063 cleaning spray and blow off with compressed air.

    NOTES Allow Loctite 7063 cleaning spray to flash off completely before applying new sealant.

    Leaks can occur otherwise.
