Install Rear Longitudinal Member Section - Ar64.20-P-1260-03LWG

MODIFICATION NOTES

01.03.2016 Rivet areas changed Operation step 11 and 12  

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Transfer positions of present holes in body to rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) (areas A).
  2. Install rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) with straightening tool, fit and fix in place.
  3. Drill rivet holes on rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas A, B, and C).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area B).

  4. Countersink rivet holes in contact area of spare wheel well.
  5. Remove rear-end floor (1), rear longitudinal member (2) and straightening tool
  6. Deburr rivet holes on rear-end floor (1), rear longitudinal member (2) and body on both sides.
  7. Remove drilling chips.
  8. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint (area C).
  9. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  10. Install rear-end floor (1) with straightening tool and fix in place.
  11. Rivet rear-end floor (1) with rivet with a diameter of 6.5 x 14.5 (areas D1 and E).
  12. Rivet rear-end floor (1) with Ø 6.4 rivet (area D2 ).
  13. Rivet rear-end floor (1) with Ø 6.4x19.0 rivet (area F).

    IMPORTANT Rivet only after installing rear longitudinal member.

  14. Weld in rear floor (1) with POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE ROW SPOT WELD (area G).

  15. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive to inside (area H). Some of the 2-component adhesive is wiped off in this area when the rear axle cross member is installed; it is necessary to compensate for this by applying an additional amount. Apply 2-component adhesive to new part.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  16. Install rear longitudinal member (2) and fix in place.
  17. Rivet rear longitudinal member (2) with Ø 6.5x14.5 (area J).
  18. Rivet rear longitudinal member (2) with Ø 6.5x12.5 (area K).
  19. Rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE ROW SPOT WELD (area M).
