- Expose spot welds on reinforcement (2) and cut off (area A and B).
- Drill self-piercing riveting on reinforcement (2) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (area C).
Cut out spot welds through two sheet metal thicknesses (area B).
- Heat reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove reinforcement (2).
- Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and cut off (area D and E).
- Bend open sheet metal lugs (arrow).
Cut out weld spots through two sheet metal thicknesses (area E).
- Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and cut off (area F and G).
- Bend open sheet metal lugs (arrow).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (area G).
- Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and cut off (area H and J).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (area J).
The following operations steps 10, 11 and 12 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side of the vehicle.
- Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and cut off (area K).
- Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area L).
- Expose inert gas welds on rear-end floor (1) and disconnect (area M).
- Heat rear-end floor (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat rear-end floor (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat rear-end floor (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove rear-end floor (1) downward toward rear.
Aid of helper required.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not apply zinc dust paint to bonding surfaces (area O).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on outside (area P).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Zinc dust paint may not be applied to the bonding surfaces (area Q).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on outside (area R).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Zinc dust paint may not be applied to the bonding surfaces (area S).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
