Preparing Cross Member Above Rear Axle For Installation - Ar64.20-P-1300-08LWG

  1. Grind mating surfaces on rear axle crossmember (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  2. Remove grinding dust.
  3. Grind mating surfaces on rear axle crossmember (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  4. Remove grinding dust.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

    Rear axle crossmember top section (2) inside 

  5. Grind mating surfaces on rear axle crossmember top section (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  6. Remove grinding dust.
  7. Expose self-pierce rivets on left striker plate (3) and drill out with a 6 mm bit (area A).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  8. Grind mating surfaces on left end plate (3) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
  9. Remove grinding dust.

    IMPORTANT Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.

  10. Expose self-pierce rivets on right striker plate (4) and drill out with a 6 mm bit (area B).

  11. Grind mating surfaces on right end plate (4) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
  12. Remove grinding dust.

    IMPORTANT Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.
