Partially Remove Rear Longitudinal Member - Ar64.20-P-1260-01LWG

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and cut out (area A).
  2. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear-end floor (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas B).

  3. Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) and cut off (areas C and D).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot weld from inside (area D).

  4. Expose impact spikes in rear longitudinal member (1) and cut out (area E).
  5. Expose self-pierce rivets on rear longitudinal member (2) and drill out with a 6 mm bit (area F).

  6. Heat rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) in cross-hatched areas.
  7. Remove rear-end floor (1) with rear longitudinal member (2).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  8. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area H).

    Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  9. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  10. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas H and I).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
