Location
The rear door control units are located on the corresponding door module behind the door trim.
Tasks
The rear door control units have the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
- Transmitting signals
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Left rear door LIN (LIN B9) and right rear door LIN (LIN B10) (with CODE 872 (Seat heater in rear))
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
The left rear door control unit reads in the signals from the following components over direct lines:
- Left rear door rotary tumbler switch (A85/3s1)
- Left rear power window motor Hall sensor (M10/5)
- Left rear power window switch (S213)
The right rear door control unit reads in the signals of the following components directly:
- Right rear door rotary tumbler switch (A85/4s1)
- Right rear power window motor Hall sensor (M106)
- Right rear power window switch (S214)
Left rear door LIN and right rear door LIN (with CODE 872 (Seat heater in rear))
The left rear door control unit reads in the signals of the left rear seat heater button (S51/3) via the left rear door LIN.
The left rear door control unit reads in the signals of the right rear seat heater button (S51/4) via the right rear door LIN.
Interior CAN
The left rear door control unit and right rear door control unit reads in the following signals via the interior CAN:
- Crash signal
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Open/close central locking (CL) request
- Convenience feature mode (with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- Convenience feature direction (with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- PRE-SAFE® adjustment request (with CODE 299 (PRE-SAFE® system))
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The following components are actuated by the left rear door control unit via direct lines:
- Left rear door central locking motor (A85/3m1)
- Left rear door additional door lock actuator motor (A85/3m4) (with code (885) Increased theft protection)
- Left rear door exit and warning lamp (E17/5) (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
- Left rear door handle illumination (E17/13) (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
- Left rear door outer door handle illumination (E17/23) (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- Left rear door ambient lighting (E17/45) (Model 205 with code 877 (Ambient lighting) up to 01.03.2018, Model 253 except 253.99 with code 877 (Ambient lighting))
- Left rear door handle ambient lighting (E17/57) (Model 205 with code 877 (Ambient lighting) up to 01.03.2018, Model 253 except 253.99 with code 877 (Ambient lighting))
- Left rear power window motor
The following components are actuated by the right rear door control unit via direct lines:
- Right rear door central locking motor (A85/4m1)
- Left rear door additional door lock actuator motor (A85/4m4) (with code (885) Increased theft protection)
- Right rear door exit and warning lamp (E17/6) (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
- Right rear door handle illumination (E17/14) (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
- Right rear door outer door handle illumination (E17/24) (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- Right rear door ambient lighting (E17/46) (Model 205 with code 877 (Ambient lighting) up to 01.03.2018, Model 253 except 253.99 with code 877 (Ambient lighting))
- Right rear door handle ambient lighting (E17/58) (Model 205 with code 877 (Ambient lighting) up to 01.03.2018, Model 253 except 253.99 with code 877 (Ambient lighting))
- Right rear power window motor
The rear door control units connect the connected control elements with circuit 58d.
Model 205.0/1/2
as of Model year 2019
with code 877 (ambient lighting)
Model 253.99
with code 877 (ambient lighting)
The rear door control units supply the ambient lighting in the respective door with voltage.
Transmitting signals
The left rear door control unit or right rear door control unit transmits signals via the following connections:
- Left rear door LIN and right rear door LIN (with CODE 872 (Seat heater in rear))
- Interior CAN
Model 205.0/1/2
as of Model year 2019
with code 877 (ambient lighting)
Model 253.99
with code 877 (ambient lighting)
The left rear door control unit forwards the actuation of the ambient lighting in the left rear door from the ambient lighting control unit (N162) via the left rear door ambient lighting LIN (LIN B32). The right rear door control unit forwards the actuation of the ambient lighting in the right rear door from the ambient lighting control unit via the right rear door ambient lighting LIN (LIN B33).
Left rear door LIN and right rear door LIN (with CODE 872 (Seat heater in rear))
The respective rear door control unit sends the status of the seat heater over the rear door LIN to the corresponding rear seat heater button.
Interior CAN
The left rear door control unit or right rear door control unit transmits the following signal via the interior CAN among other things:
- Door status (open/closed)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
